John Blue House
13040 X-Way Road, Laurinburg, NC; 910-276-2496
This beautifully restored 1890s structure was home to one of Scotland County’s most famous residents. This self-educated inventor had a major impact in farming through the creation of the first cotton stalk cutter and the revolutionary John Blue Cotton Planter. Other historic structures on the grounds are the Jones- Lytch Cabin (circa 1800), the Shaw Cabin (early 1800s), and the McNeill Cabin (mid-1800s). There is also a pre-Civil Ware cotton gin and press, as well as a miniature passenger train that delights history buffs of all ages.
