| Perhaps North Carolina’s most celebrated poet, McNeill was born in Scotland County in 1874 and was the grandson of Scottish immigrants on both sides of his family. Only one volume of his work, Songs, Merry and Sad, was published before he died at the young age of 33. His restored home sits amidst 12 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. |
